Frequently Asked Questions
There are quite a few questions that I get asked a lot…like A LOT.
So I put together this handy little FAQ page to answer your dying questions. Have a question that’s not below? Shoot me an email and I will consult my magic 8 ball and get right back to you.
General
What's the best way for me to communicate with you?
I check my email 1 – 2 times a day. As a client, you get priority responses from me.
I do not respond to emails on the weekends and I do not communicate via text message. This allows me to track our communication much easier so things don’t get missed.
The best way to provide feedback is to compile everything into one email or to create a Google Doc in your folder and title it: Changes.doc
This will keep us both organized so that I don’t accidentally miss any requests.
How should I share my login credentials?
In our work together you will need to provide me with login credentials for services such as your hosting provider or social media accounts. In your Google Drive folder, you will find an information sheet that allows you to share your credentials quickly and easily, though it is not a secure way of sending passwords.
If you prefer to ensure your information is secure at all times, please take a moment now to sign up for a FREE LastPass account. Lastpass is a secure platform for storing and sharing log-in information without having to share your passwords directly. I highly recommend this for any project.
You will need an account and I highly recommend installing the Google Chrome extension to easily access + store your passwords.
Building Your Brand
How do I create a Pinterest board?
Here is a quick video walking you through how to create and share your Pinterest board.
Designing Your Website
How do I purchase a domain?
This is the URL of your website (e.g. chassiebelldesign.com). I like to think of it as the “address”. They cost on average $15 a year and I suggest adding privacy which is usually $20 a year but can vary.
Most hosting companies give you a year for free with hosting.
Where do I buy website hosting?
Siteground is the company I both use and recommend. They have wonderful support and their user face is really easy to use. You can sign up for an account here. I am an affiliate for them and make $50 from each sale. (I’m all about that transparency). An SSL is included with any site hosted on Siteground.
You will pay the least amount of money when you first sign up so get a long contract if you can afford it. For a single site, I suggest the StartUp plan but if you plan to have more than 1 site go for the Grow Big.
Bluehost is the second company I recommend.
* Note – If you have a site that you would like to keep live while the new site is being built, you will need to make sure that your hosting will accommodate a staging site. Most do and this is something I can look into for you.
Do I need email management/newsletter software?
This is a must-have for building and engaging with an email list. These are the products I recommend:
FloDesk: Pretty new software with an easy user interface and nice-looking DIY opt-ins. This link will give you 50% off your membership.
ConvertKit: Probably one of the best on the market. This is a product you will grow into.
Mailchimp: They have a free plan that is really great if you are just starting out. Be mindful though because if you plan to have an automated email sequence they only allow 1 email in their free version.
How do I build a scheduler into my website?
Acuity Scheduling is my go-to for this stuff. It’s SO easy to use and set up. Plus we can embed it into your site if you want!
Calendy is also great! Several of my clients use this.
If you utilize Dubsado as a CRM we can also embed the scheduler in your website.
How should I send my content?
You will be sending me a lot of content to review and place on your website over the next few weeks. Please take care to share your thoughts in an organized manner. Check out this PDF to see what I mean.
